I bought this compressor cause it was lighter than most with a good reputation, however being a carpenter and using it in all weathers in the northeast just doesnt work it wont start. had to buy an oilfree would not recommend it.
The Dewalt air compressor arrived on time and performs as expected. I have enjoyed using the item and, with general maintenance, I expect it to last for many years to come.
I am a production wood sculptor, and use this compressor continuously to clean wood chips and dust from the work. Although I have only used it for a year and a half, I recommend it to anyone needing a unit which can run continuously. It arrived in ready to run condition. I run a wide variety of noisy tools in my wood shop, and have found earplugs useful in making noise a non-issue.
What makes this the best all around compressor there is: It's really and Emglo compressor with yellow paint. Needless to say, my truck is filled with yellow tools. Other than oil changes, which I have been embarrassingly irregular with, this unit has required no service or repair.
It was in use daily for years there, and then when I moved to Hawaii in '93 it's been used less, but still gets used regularly in my remodel business here. It will not supply an air-hungry sander or other tool that runs continuously, but that's also not its intended use. OK, as a general contractor on the Oregon Coast, I bought my Emglo (absolutely identical to this DeWalt) back in 1989.
This compressor regularly supplies two or three framing nailers at the same time, so it does what it's supposed to. Having spent those 15 years in some of the most corrosive environments there are, the compressor is serious ugly now, all covered with rust. It still runs as well as it did when new.
I've used it often for a random-orbit sander, but if I need to use the sander continuously, I'll use an electric one or do the job in my shop where I have a stationary compressor.I'm glad to see that DeWalt combined efforts with Emglo to add yet another excellent dimension to their tool line. The bottom line: I'd rate this compressor as indestructible.
Not enough air flow for most of my needs. Only buy for very light work. The air outlet is too close to the handle, had to change it around.
